Castles The picturesque Lviv area will acquaint you with the famous castles constituting the Golden Horseshoe of Lviv. Ukraine has few buildings of this kind, thus it is worth admiring the magnificent masterpieces and tempting to meet local ghosts. The history of all castles contains heroic, romantic and sometimes mysterious pages. Some of them were raised by the princes of the Kievan Rus and others by the Polish nobility. The day-long bus excursion will give you an opportunity to see and visit three castles. Zolochiv Castle was built on a hill in the 17th century by the father of the future King of Reczpospolita – Jakub Sobieski. The building was renovated and reconstructed from time to time. However, it has preserved its original look. Thanks to the wife of the king the Chinese Palace was erected in the bailey. It is the only building of this kind in Ukraine and one of three similar buildings in Europe. You will hear an interesting, and sometimes ominous history of the castle. Olesky Castle is very interesting either. The first record of it dates back to 1327. The historians believe that this defensive fortification has preserved since the times of the Kievan Rus and it is a unique architectural monument. Nowadays the former residency of the Polish kings offers tourists an interesting collection of the wooden sculptures and unique works of art. At the end of this excursion you will see a castle in Pidhirtsi, which may seem even superior luxury to residencies of the European monarchs. The fortress belonged to the Polish king family and became famous all over Europe for its fat feasts held by the owner. ExcursionsExcursionsExcursionsExcursionsExcursions
